PokerStars Caribbean Day 4
Published on 10 Jan 2010 by ReturnMyRake
It’s Day 4 of the PokerStars Caribbean adventure and the weather seems as if it’s not at all willing to cooperate. Plagued by gloomy skies and tumultuous rains, players and fans alike had no choice but to stay indoors. The majority of the players had a major run in with bad luck too as the field of 62 dwindled down to a mere 24. The sun shone on one particular player, though – Ryan D’Angelo.
D’Angelo’s Stellar Run
At the tournament’s start, there were 62 eager players, all vying for a chance to get to the final table. By the end of the day, however, this number dwindled down to a mere 24. About 40 players had to go home, disappointed and morose – and the bleak Caribbean skies must have been so very appropriate for their moods. D’Angelo, however, was having a great time. He took over the chip lead quite early on. What’s amazing, however, is that he managed to keep hold of it throughout the day. He even managed to amass up to 7,438,000 chips. This gave him a substantial lead over the other players, with him being the only player to have more than 6 million chips in all. He managed to eliminate several players, among them some famous pros like Hafiz Khan, Roger Teska, and Jake Toole. Ryan D’Angelo has won two WCOOP bracelets in his lifetime and it seems like he’s up for another prize if he manages to hold on to his lead until the very end of the tournament.
A not-so-close second
In second plays is the famous EPT founder and member of Team PokerStars, John Duthie. He has over 5.3 million in chips – that’s 2 million chips below D’Angelo. Still, you know how it is in poker, Duthie could turn this around on the next day with just a well-timed bet. Duthie is also the only member of Team PokerStars who will be able to reach Day 5, as his teammates, Florian Langmann and Johny Lodden, were eliminated at Day 4 along with the other 40. It’s interesting to note, however, that even though they’re at the top spots right now, Duthie and D’Angelo have yet to clash. This is something we truly have to watch out for on the next day. It’s surely going to be a heated battle on Day 5 of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, as the pros battle their way through the pot.
