Poker After Dark Gears Up For Season 6
Published on 6 Jan 2010 by ReturnMyRake
With Season 5 under wraps and the fans still screaming for more, the makers of Poker After Dark have just decided that a 6th season is in order. As always, it will be held at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The first episode is entitled “Commentators III” and will feature, as always, six players namely Howard Lederer, Gabe Kaplan, Ali Nejad, Kara Scott, Mark Gregorich, and Joe Sebok.
Poker at its most Personal
There’s really no question about it – Poker After Dark is just one of the most successful poker shows today. The aspect that made this show truly stand out was the insight it truly provided into the lives, skills, and thoughts of the pros. While regular poker shows would be constantly overrun by the sound of commentators rattling on and on about the game, Poker After Dark features only a very limited commentary. The show provides the viewers the opportunity to listen into the games of the pros – not only to find out what they talk about but also to find out what techniques they use to rattle their opponents. Of course, with only poker pros sitting down to play the high stakes games, you can be sure that you will be privy to some of the most riveting card games ever. It’s a truly high quality show that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat as the players raise and reraise, creating some of the most monstrous pots in poker history.
Thirteen Episodes of Poker Magic
Filming for this show actually finished last October 2009, but only made its debut last night. The show will run for thirteen episodes in all, with the first episode being entitled ‘The Commentators’. The second episode will feature players with interesting nicknames such as Annette “The Hungress” Obrestad, Mike “The Mouth” Matusow, Antonio “The Magician” Esfandiari, Erick “E-Dog” Lindgren, Phil “The Unabomber” Laak, and Phil “The Poker Brat” Hellmuth. The next episodes too will feature their own themes, examples of which are a guys vs. girls episode entitled ‘He says, she says’, another one called ‘Mixed Martial Arts’, and so on. The thirteen episodes will be composed of 7 winner-take-all tourneys and six cash games. You can see the show on weekdays at 2:05 AM on NBC. But the Director’s Cut episodes will be shown only on Saturdays.
