Isildur1 Might File a Complaint against Online Poker Data Mining
Published on 25 Dec 09 by Mike GibbsIsildur1

Isildur1’s foray into the highstakes tables was certainly a rollercoaster ride. There were lots of highs and lows, of loops and turns, of highways and byways and it truly was a wild ride. It’s just too bad that it had to end abruptly with a scandal involving Brian Townsend and Online Poker Data Mining that left Isildur1 shying away from the poker scene.

The Story

Isildur1 made his high-stakes debut last October, 2009 at Full Tilt Poker. Since then, his name – or rather, screen name – became something every poker fan knew. Isildur1 has also kept his identity a big secret.  And until now, nobody knows who this dark horse is. This anonymity only served to fan the flames that fueled his fame. In fact, Isiludur1 did not even bother to talk to the media. He could have a bot for all anybody knew. Either way, Isildur1 was immediately recognized as a true talent. He even made poker history by being involved in one of the largest pots ever made in online poker.  Big pros like Illari Sahamies and Tom Dwan have taken a beating from him. But while he earned millions through poker, he also found himself on a losing streak for a couple of times. Playing against Ivey, Isildur1 faced one of his biggest losses yet. Patrik Antonius meted out some vengeance for his buddy, Dwan, by winning a couple of millions for Isildur1. However, it was Isildur1’s most recent bout with Brian Hastings that left the whole poker world in an uproar.  They were playing Pot Limit Omaha. For five hours, the two of them battled it out. But in the end, Hastings walked away with a whopping $4.2 million.

The Scandal

After this epic session which left Isildur1 in the dust, Hastings was interviewed by ESPN. In the interview, however, he revealed that his win was all thanks to Brian Townsend. Townsend, apparently, analyzed Isildur1’s hand history and constructed a sort of “walkthrough” for beating Isildur1. Such a thing is illegal, which lead to Townsend’s suspension as a Red Pro at Full Tilt Poker.

PokerNews managed to get an interview from the mysterious Isildur1, who revealed that the game with Hastings somehow didn’t feel right to him, and that everything that could’ve gone wrong did. And indeed, everything made sense when he found out about the whole Poker Data Mining issue. When PokerNews revealed to him that what Townsend did was illegal, Isildur1 said that he would file a complaint and urge Full Tilt to look into the matter. But for now, however, he’s done with Full Tilt until he gets an update on the situation.
